Many Pokémon have moved out of the 5km egg category, and into the 2km category. We are now in the middle of Pokémon GO's Valentine's event, where a bunch of pink Pokémon are spawning everywhere, candy generation is doubled, and lures last six hours. Essentially, the entire tier system has changed. And a few 10kms have moved to the 5km tier. Even just by removing those three, your chances of getting one of those from a 10km egg should go up by about a third.

Pokémon GO is a deeply social game pretty much by accident, because the game on its own does very little to encourage player-to-player interaction. The events first two major features are double candy and a preponderance of "pink" Pokémon, both of which are solid and necessary components. No major bonuses gave fewer reasons to get out there, and neither saw the same uptick in activity that Halloween provided. But lures are one place where a game mechanic really does facilitate real world interaction, and that's on full display here. For the people that remain, however, this is one of the best events Niantic has pulled out yet.
