Twitter with permission from Silph RoadPokémon GO's Water Festival is finished to what seems to be a generally positive reaction from the community. The surprise event increased spawn rates for Water Pokémon rare and otherwise across all areas, even those that rarely saw them, and threw in a stylish Magikarp hat to boot. Now that the festival is over, however, it seems that the shiny Pokémon will be sticking around. That would mean, of course, that filling out your collection of shiny Pokémon would just mean forking over some cash to a bunch of strangers.

The water festival which has enabled players in the more 'deserty' regions of Pokemon GO to snag water Pokemon, will be coming to a close at 4PM EST, today. Hopefully, in the future, Niantic will bring more of these events to fans (along with more shiny Pokemon). The Water Festival was a bit unexpected, being the first Pokemon GO event not tied to a real-world holiday, but it's been more than welcome by fans. The festival also gave players the chance to grab a Magikarp Hat accessory as well as for the first time a beautiful shiny Magikarp. Grab the shiny Magikarp while you still can!
