"9to5Mac" : Pokémon Go overhauling gyms and battling with new items, raid features, more

as declared in All around the world, you'll soon be able to participate in the new Raid Battle feature at Gyms. Gyms will soon work like PokéStops and include exclusive items, badges, and more while battling is getting more advanced with new social features coming. The new Raid Battle feature is coming alongside an overhaul of how gyms work in the game:Gyms are no longer based on Prestige and training. A Raid Battle is a cooperative gameplay experience that encourages you to work with other Trainers to defeat an extremely powerful Pokémon known as the Raid Boss. Pokémon GO update sees revamped gyms today – co-op raids coming soon
Pokémon GO – raid battles are coming soonIt looks like it could be a second summer of Pokémon GO, as the world's favourite app prepares to addnew multiplayer features. Raid Battles are co-operative rather than competitive, and allow you to team up with other nearby players and try and defeat extra powerful pokémon known as raid bosses. Before there wasn't much point visiting them if you didn't have super powerful pokémon, but now you can get unique items at friendly gym – just like you do at a PokéStop. You'll also be able to create private raid groups and invite your friends to that via a customisable code system. Pokémon Go's big summer update adds cooperative raids and redesigned gyms
The raid battles are expected to launch as a free update "in the weeks ahead."Redesigned gymsAlso coming soon are some fairly big changes to how gyms work. Nearly a year after it first launched, Pokémon Go is getting a big summer update aimed at making the game both more accessible and more social. "Once the update has been rolled out to players around the world, gyms will return," the developer says. "Raid battles" are Niantic's attempt to bring that concept into the game. Because the battles are centered around gyms, you'll need to be in the same areas as your teammates in order to take on a raid.
