The site suggests that the Shiny Pikachu has been in the game's code for some time, but Niantic has been waiting to launch it. SlashGear claims the Shiny Pikachu will be available within the next WEEK. And if it's anything like the Shiny Magikarp, Pikachu will be very hard to come across.
