Slowly but surely, Niantic is turning Pokemon Go into the game we all hoped it would be at launch. Speaking with Polish website Gram last week, Niantic product marketing head Anne Beuttenmüller revealed that the team wants to add PvP battles to the game before the end of 2018. Although the interview was mostly focused on the upcoming debut of Ingress Prime, Beuttenmüller did answer a few Pokemon Go questions. She also confirmed that there will be more Pokemon added to the game, but didn't say when we should expect to see them. PvP battles would be a perfect addition for the holidays as everyone heads back home to see their family and friends.

'Pokémon Go' PvP Feature in the Works, Says Niantic

Niantic is continually rolling out new features to keep Pokémon Go fresh well into its third year, and it seems PvP is next on the docket. The feature was first teased when the game was announced back in 2015, with trainers swapping Pokémon in the reveal trailer. Every Pokémon has a quick and charged attack, with faster moves building up the charged attack meter. Once the meter is full, tapping the charged attack on the bottom part of the screen lets the Pokémon unleash the more powerful move. How Niantic plans to handle PvP in Pokémon Go is unclear, but fans can expect more information soon.

Niantic Adding PvP To 'Pokémon Go' This Year (Report)

referring to "We are constantly improving the elements that we have available in the game and the next thing that we want to add at the end of this year is the PvP mode," Beuttenmüller said via a Google translation. In addition, Niantic wants to tweak the in-game friendship and trading features it introduced in June. She didn't provide details on how Niantic plans to improve trading, but she did confirm that new Pokémon will be added to the game in the future. Google Play accounts for 58% of the game's revenues, with the other 42% coming from the Apple App Store. Niantic did not immediately respond to Variety's request for comment.
